C.I.P. @ Kheng Chiu Lodge.
we had to complete our 2 hours of community involvement programme at the old folks home today.
i was already deadbeat with school today. todays' subjects required high amount of energy and ended late.
rushing over there with a half-filled tummy was a dread.
maryam was all excited about this visit. i was the opposite.
its not that i dislike the senior citizens but i was just not feeling excited.
nevertheless.. me, su and maryam and all the malay and a few chinese guys volunteered ourselves to do the cleaning up instead of entertaining. as we were told that EVERYONE there was chinese and we found it no point entertaining them when we couldnt understand the language they mostly spoke.
as we cleaned the canteen, the lifts, and the railings.
the volunteer lady who could ONLY speak mandarin, was so bossy.
she wasnt satisfied with the cleaning. she wanted us to clean UNDERNEATH and EDGES of the table.
even at home, i didnt do that. it was horrible. there was dead lizard on the floor and a live one running around.
but overall, the place was already been cleaned by the workers there.
and so.. after thorough cleaning, we didnt have anything to do.
being mischevious, we took the detergent and wipe the railings as to make them slippery.
nyahahahaha. after all, that lady was a bitch. she even scolded maryam for not cleaning the table properly and to think of it, we are just volunteers and maryam was the most-semangat.
we grew bored, so we wipe the lifts [as ordered by bitchy lady] and played with them. nyahahaha.
went to all 6 floors up den down again cleaning the same lift. only difference was the different levels we stopped. hahaha.
after that, we went down to join the entertainers. the chinese girls and guys were karaoke-ing and some even played chess with the old folks. from what i see.. the prasan suare sedap people were enjoying themselves when it was supposed to be the other way round! the people there was staring blankly into space..
maryam spotted an old lady sitting alone, so she approached her. and surprisingly, they got into long convos.
and she could speak malay. so.. i joined them along with su and few malay guys. and she told us stories.
she didnt have any friends because everybody thinks she's suey as her two children died. [one commited suicide, the other died cos of an illness]. so it was sad.
den it was time to go home.
shawn who talked to another elderly told us that the lady maryam chatted happily with, is a "talented actress".
nyahahaha. everyone hated her because she would sit with the men and cry and seek pity.
thats all for the tiring day.
am sooo looking forward to waking up late tmr!
